Developmental Centers Initiatives Underway
In response to these changing needs and input received from both internal and external reviews including Department of Public Health (DPH) and Department of Justice (DOJ) activities, the Department has implemented a series of initiatives to improve and expand on the delivery of services. These initiatives cover a full range of service delivery areas directly related to consumer care and treatment and/or indirectly impacting consumer services. These initiatives include:
- Statewide Approaches to enhancing Developmental Center Services
- Investigations of Incidents by the Office of Protective Services
- Internal Oversight Team at Lanterman Developmental Center during Closure
- Culture of Positive Approaches
- Systems for Incident Reporting
- Bioethics & End of Life Care
- Resident Transition Planning
