Update on the Plan for the Closure of Lanterman Developmental Center:

With the passage of the Budget Act of 2010 and direction provided through new statutes, the Department is proceeding with closure activities as outlined in the Plan for the Closure of Lanterman Developmental Center (Plan). As anticipated in the Plan, the Department has established three advisory groups: the Resident Transition Advisory Group, to develop a transition strategy for residents of Lanterman that will ensure a safe and successful transition through all phases of the closure process; the Quality Management Advisory Group, to identify additional strategies or enhancements needed to ensure residents of Lanterman are afforded quality services and supports as they transition to the community; and, the Staff Support Advisory Group, to address employee issues that are not subject to collective bargaining. All Advisory Groups are actively meeting and working toward accomplishing their objectives.
