Dietetic Internship

Porterville Developmental Center

The Dietetic Internship Program is a 12-month training program accredited by the American Dietetic Association. The program is a post-baccalaureate clinical experience geared to general dietetics and is designed to prepare entry level dieticians through planned instruction and assignments at PDC and nine affiliated hospitals and community agencies. Interns will be accepted to the program which commences on August 1st of each year. Successful completion of the one-year program qualifies an intern to take the registration examination to become a Registered Dietician.

Interns receive:

  • Stipend of $500.00/month
  • Housing on PDC grounds
  • Two meals per day while living at PDC
  • One week vacation

Application requirements:

  • Supervised Practice Program Application
  • Letter of Application
  • Three recommendations on ADA Recommendation Forms completed by professional persons
  • Official transcript of all colleges attended
  • Verification statement or Declaration of intent to complete from your DPD Director
  • Resume
  • Application fee of $75.00
  • A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university and completion of Didactic Program in Dietetics is mandatory
