Redwood Coast Regional Center and Area Board I

Redwood Coast Regional Center and Area I Board are participating in a three year pilot project introducing Self-Determination. Redwood Coast Regional Center will invite thirty individuals or families who reside in Mendocino County to participate in this project. Potential participants will be randomly selected and issued an invitation. Participants will receive training and opportunities for work, relaxation and recreation, and also everyday choices such as how and where to arrange transportation, and how to best manage an individual budget.

The pilot project funding will allow Redwood Coast Regional Center to support the project participants and to provide the needed training for participants and staff. During the project, new ways of offering service will be tried including ways for participants to directly hire and pay for their services and supports. Redwood Coast Regional Center expects to learn a lot from the thirty participants in the next three years, and hopes to use this information to improve services for all persons.
