SDS Waiver Application

The Self-Directed Services program was created through legislation passed in 2005 as part of the Omnibus Health Trailer Bill to the Budget Act of 2005, Assembly Bill 131. Section 4685.7 of the Welfare and Institutions Code states, "Contingent upon approval of a federal waiver, the Self-Directed Services Program is hereby established and shall be available in every regional center catchment area to provide participants, within an individual budget, greater control over needed services and supports." The Self-Directed Services Waiver Application was submitted for review and approval to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on April 2, 2008.
