Program Three

Program Type:
Nursing Facility (Physical Development & Intervention)
Program Goals:
The goal of Program 3 is to maintain or improve client health and participation in the activities of daily living.
Services:
The focus of Program 3 is on restorative care to improve neuromuscular and sensorimotor functioning, mobility, and sensory awareness. Staff strive to encourage client self-awareness, basic self-help skills, leisure skills, and improved social behavioral functioning. To meet the Program's goal, staff specialize in quality nursing, recreation, self-help skills, and sensorimotor development.
Description of Individuals Served:
Program 3 individuals live on one of six residences. Most individuals have severe or profound mental retardation with deficits in neuromuscular functioning, impaired sensorimotor development, and medical conditions which limit full participation in treatment programs and affect their quality of life. They need assistance in dressing, grooming, toileting, and dining. Most clients require adaptive equipment, have limited translocation skills, and lack safety awareness. Some clients display behavioral challenges which require formal plans. One residence serves elderly, more intellectually capable individuals who require considerable nursing care.
