Program Four

Program Type:
Intermediate Care Facility (Behavior Intervention)
Program Goals:
The primary goal of Program 4 is to provide creative, positive behavioral supports, leading to increased individual independence. Program 4 staff promote opportunities for choice-making, exercising individual rights, and maximizing the use of SDC and community environments.
Services:
The people served are provided a structured residence that best meets their needs. Addressing the needs identified in their Individual Program Plan, they receive training in all areas of independent living skills, self-care, behavioral challenges, and social skills. In addition, they are provided pre-vocational or vocational opportunities. They have recreational programs both on and off campus. Clients' individual needs are met by providing state-of-the-art positive behavioral, psychological, and psychiatric services, as well as continuous active treatment.
Description of Individuals Served:
The people served here have a primary diagnosis of mental retardation with a secondary diagnosis of one or more psychiatric disorders, mood or personality disorders, or other severe behavioral challenges. Many exhibit behaviors that severely interfere with living in a less restrictive environment. Some of the behaviors displayed are due to a lack of impulse control, resulting in self-abuse, aggression, and property destruction. The individuals dually diagnosed with both mental retardation and one or more psychiatric disorders may require physical and/or pharmaceutical intervention to help them regain control of themselves. Ages range from late teens to mature adults.
