DDS has produced videos concerning developmental disabilities. These videos are in DVD format and are currently available for purchase at a cost of $5.00 each (includes shipping and handling). Sharon's Story, An Artist's Life Sharon Hoagland is an artist and poet living in Santa Cruz County. Born with cerebral palsy, Sharon receives Supported Living Services through San Andreas Regional Center. This video features interviews with Sharon and highlights the role of her care provider. Sharon's art and poetry are woven throughout the video as the visual images of Sharon in her daily life unfold. 1999

Hand Washing and Gloving This video was designed as a training tool for direct support staff in the practice safeguards important to prevent the spread of germs. It provides step-by-step explanation and demonstration of proper technique for hand washing and wearing of disposable gloves. 2011

Assisting With Self Administration of Medication in Community Care Facilities This video was designed for training of direct support staff working in community care facilities, but is appropriate for others who may be assisting with self-administration of medication. It provides step-by-step explanation and demonstration of proper technique for assisting individuals with self-administration of medications. The video follows the individual consumer through the entire process, beginning with the visit to the physician and pharmacy. 2011

The DDS Wellness Initiative This video was developed to highlight the activities of the DDS Wellness Initiative. The video will familiarize prospective project partners, legislators, regional centers, government entities, and others with the scope and accomplishments of the Wellness Initiative. The Power of Independence - The Value of Living Independently This video, produced for the State Independent Living Council, expresses the Value of Living Independently as told in their own words by a variety of people with disabilities. It's a powerful, touching and informative production that condenses a critical message into 18 action-packed minutes. This video was awarded an Honorable Mention in 2003 by the California State Information Officers Council. Two versions of the video are included on the same tape. Both are open-captioned and the second version is audio described. 2003

Camarillo State Hospital and Developmental Center, 1936-1997 This video takes a fascinating and in-depth historical look at California's largest state run facility through the eyes of the employees who once worked there.
