Fiscal Year 2006/2007 Wellness Initiative Projects
Alta California Regional Center (Alpine, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba counties):
Helping with Choice Making at the End of Life will aid persons with developmental disabilities in making healthcare decisions and end of life decisions. ACRC, in collaboration with Golden Gate and Eastern Los Angeles Regional Centers, will develop focus groups, field testing, and outreach material in a workbook format and DVD.

Golden Gate Regional Center (Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties):
Disaster Preparedness DVDs for Consumers, Families, Vendors and Direct Support Professionals will develop a two-series DVD, in a clear and easy to follow format, so that persons with developmental disabilities will be able to understand how to protect themselves in a disaster. DVDs allow individuals and agencies to create and expedite a disaster preparedness plan.

Inland Regional Center (Riverside and San Bernardino counties):
A Multi-disciplinary Collaborative Training Series for Direct Care Staff to Reduce Unplanned Hospitalizations will develop and deliver training for direct support professionals to prevent and to decrease unplanned psychiatric hospitalizations.

Harbor Regional Center (Southern Los Angeles County including Bellflower, Harbor, Long Beach, and Torrance):
Evaluation of Center Based Intensive Behavioral Intervention Programs for Young Children with Autism: Comparison of Inclusive and Non-Inclusive Models will evaluate the effects of an inclusion model for two and three year olds with Autism at the Manhattan Beach Unified School District Preschool for Children with Autism.
TOTAL AWARDED: $67,821.00.
San Andreas Regional Center (Monterey, San Benito, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties):
Mental Health Assessment and Crisis Team will partner SARC with Hope Services to provide a mobile mental health crisis team to respond to and assist consumers experiencing crises in their environment. The project aims at reducing the number of unplanned hospitalizations for adult consumers by providing mental health assessments and addressing behaviors with community-based services.
TOTAL AWARDED: $60,000.00.
South Center Los Angeles Regional Center (Southern Los Angeles County including the communities of Compton and Gardena):
Early Start Oral Health will provide a three-step training series to promote good oral health for children under 36 months of age who have special needs. The project will offer service coordination, advocacy, information referral, and intervention services for Early Start individuals and families.

Westside Regional Center (Western Los Angeles county including the communities of Culver City, Inglewood, and Santa Monica):
Peer Mentor Coach Agency will match peer mentor lifestyle coaches with consumers based on need, preference and ability. Peer Mentor Lifestyle coaches design individual service plans (ISPs) for consumers based on individual goals and objectives.
TOTAL AWARDED: $163,648.00.
