What does it really mean to modernize how developmental services work in California?

In a recent episode of North Los Angeles County Regional Center’s Voices in Action podcast, Aaron Christian, Chief of Population Risk, Quality Assurance, and Data Operations at the Department, chatted about one of his favorite topics: LOIS.

The Life Outcomes Improvement System (LOIS) is a multi-year effort to replace decades-old technology with a more modern, outcomes-based system.  The goal is simple but ambitious.  LOIS should be built to:

  • Be centered around the person
  • Support better decision-making and communication
  • Work smoothly for individuals, families, regional centers, and service providers

In the conversation with Angela Pao-Johnson, Director at NLACRC, Aaron shares some of what the Department has learned from engaging with our community at town halls around the state.
