On January 20, Department staff joined colleagues from the California Health and Human Services Agency (CalHHS) to attend the annual March for the Dream in Sacramento.  In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.  state and local officials, including the mayors of Sacramento and Elk Grove, faith and business leaders, and community members came together to recommit to equity and service.

CalHHS Secretary Kim Johnson addressed the crowd, emphasizing the importance of unity, public service and carrying forward Dr. King’s legacy.

“We are here representing justice for California.  A California where your zip code does not determine your future,” said Johnson after speaking to the crowd of hundreds. “And we’ll continue to make a just world for California and for all.”
