We’re excited to welcome Yang Lee as our new Chief of Community Assistance and Development!  He brings many years of experience in state government including leadership roles at both the Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Department of Finance, most recently as DSS Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer.

Yang was appointed by Governor Newsom and joined the Department in late April.  His daughters Madison and Mia celebrated his new appointment with him as he was sworn in, pictured below.

In his new role, Yang will lead several key areas, including the Division of Community Assistance and Resolutions, the Access and Equity Division, the Employment Services Branch, and the Self-Determination Program Branch.  His work will help improve services and create more opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Yang earned a master’s degree in public policy and administration and a bachelor’s degree in ethnic studies from CSU, Sacramento.   In his spare time, he enjoys fishing in the California Delta and nearby lakes and cooking food from various cuisines for friends and family.  Welcome to the Department!
