California is providing more inclusive and accessible housing for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

A groundbreaking was held for the new Fielden housing development in San Jose on September 10.  The event brought together city and community leaders, including San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan, and Department representatives on a rainy afternoon to celebrate.

Once complete, the development will include 12 units for people receiving services with the San Andreas Regional Center (SARC).  The Fielden is expected to open in April 2027.

This project is part of the Department’s ongoing collaboration with housing developers, federal and local agencies, and regional centers to expand accessible housing opportunities across the state.
