Additional funds in 2022 allowed the Department to pilot a new type of service that provides support for individuals to achieve competitive integrated employment (CIE), called Coordinated Career Pathways (Pathways).  Pathways is designed as a person-centered approach for people in work activity programs, receiving subminimum wage, or exiting high school.  It considers all areas of a person’s life that may impact employment.  This can include the needs of the individual, the family, and their culture.  There are two services offered through Pathways:

  • Career Pathway Navigators help create a person-centered career plan guiding individuals and their families through career planning. Navigators also help identify the necessary supports to achieve career goals, which could include customized employment.
  • Customized Employment Specialists help individuals secure a job that is customized to their talents, skills, and interest. The specialists also work to match the needs of employers.

Pathways was made available in June 2024.  Read more about it on the Coordinated Career Pathways Services page.
