If you have an intellectual or developmental disability and also identify as LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, or another diverse gender or sexual identity), we encourage you to share your voice.
In the LGBTQIA+ Focus Group, you’ll be able to offer your thoughts, ideas and experiences to help improve programs, services, and support.
What is this group about?
This focus group will meet online and talk about their thoughts, ideas, and experiences. A person will ask questions, and everyone in the group will have a chance to share what they think.
What you share will help:
- Learn how to better support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and LGBTQIA+ identities
- Get ideas about how to ask respectful and easy-to-understand questions about sexual orientation and gender identity (also called SOGI)
- Improve programs, services, and rules to better meet your needs
What you need to know about joining
- The group will meet every three months.
- Each meeting will last 2 hours, with a 15-minute break in the middle of the meeting.
- Meetings will be online using Zoom.
- Members will be paid for each meeting.
- Each member participates for one year.
- New members will join later so the focus group can continue.
