The Master Plan for Developmental Services seeks to create and strengthen bridges that connect the developmental services system to other critical systems across CalHHS and beyond. This includes agencies that support education, housing, employment, transportation, and safety.  Development of the Master Plan is guided by a 38-member committee that has been meeting monthly since April 2024.  The committee so far has:

  • Established shared values and vision statements for the Master Plan.
  • Developed an approach for addressing equity in the Master Plan.
  • Discussed how data can be used to help develop recommendations and support equity.
  • Established five priority areas that will be the focus of recommendations.
  • Facilitated workgroups to develop recommendations for the Master Plan.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the committee and workgroup meetings in August and September.  Each meeting is open to the public and includes participation of community members statewide.  The next committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in San Diego.

The workgroups are developing recommendations on these priority topic areas:

  1. Individuals and families experience person-centered service systems they trust (Workgroup 1)
  2. Individuals receive timely, inclusive, and seamless services across all service systems (Workgroup 2)
  3. Individuals and their families receive services from a high-quality, stable, and person-centered workforce (Workgroup 3)
  4. Individuals and their families experience consistent, transparent, accountable and data-driven systems that focus on outcomes (Workgroup 4)
  5. Individuals receive life-long services from systems with adequate resources (Workgroup 5)
