The Master Plan for Developmental Services is a framework for providing equitable, high quality, and person-centered services to all Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The planning process centers the voices of people with lived experiences from across the state.  You can contribute to the Master Plan! Outreach and events provide many opportunities for public comment.   Information on upcoming events and a link to resources are provided below.   The plan is expected to be finished by March of 2025.

Workgroups began meeting during the first week of August.  They will talk about priority issues and develop recommendations for the Master Plan for Developmental Services. The workgroups will meet monthly through early 2025.

The last Committee Meeting was held on June 5, 2024 in Sacramento. Committee members began talking about and outlining recommendations for the plan with the support of public input. The next Committee Meeting will be held on August 21st in Sacramento.

You can participate in the Master Plan for Developmental Services. Visit the Master Plan website.

The voices of the Master Plan for Developmental Services

An array of voices have been heard throughout the Master Plan for Developmental Services process so far. Thank you to those who have shared. Your voices will continue to be a key part of the process. The Master Plan for Developmental Services photo campaign called “The Future of Developmental Services” captures many of the people sharing their unique and valuable voices. Participants present for in-person meetings wrote down on paper one thing they want for the future of developmental services. We took a photo of those participants and are sharing them on the website and on social media.

If you would like to participate in the photo series, email DSMasterPlan@chhs.ca.gov.

DDS Director Nancy Bargmann wrote about the importance of bringing the voices of California’s diverse populations to the table. You can read it in the CalHHS Medium Blog called The Voices of Equity and Access at this link.
