The Department’s Employment Services Branch is charged with exploring and developing employment options statewide.  The team always is looking for new and innovative ways to support people meet their employment goals.

The Employment Services Branch is working on the initiatives outlined in this newsletter, including:

  • Providing an internship program for students in high school and college. This program allows students to gain work experience with the Department.
  • Tracking and reporting progress on the transition from subminimum wage for individuals with disabilities by January 1, 2025
  • Monitoring regional center vendors providing employment supports so that they are providing a safe working environment and supporting the choices of individuals.   This includes reviewing adherence to applicable laws.
  • Employment Grants, the Paid Internship Program, and QIP Incentives.

The Employment Branch is led by Sonya Fox, Branch Manager.  Michael Luna is the Chief of the Work Services Section.  Stephanie Crist is the lead manager overseeing the Department’s efforts to phase out subminimum wages.  Michael Clay is the Assistant Chief of the Work Services Section and manages the monitoring team.  His team includes Julia Edwards, Kateri Nguyen, Julie Philpott, Anna Shands (not pictured), and Student Intern Coordinator, Tyler Tutt.  The Foster Grandparent/Senior Companion Program is managed by Brian Diamond (not pictured) and is supported by Elsa Garcia.
