Porterville Developmental Center (PDC) provides essential services and care to residents. Psychiatric Technicians are an important part of this support.
To help staff build their skills and advance their careers, PDC offers the Psychiatric Technician Sponsorship Program. This work-study initiative supports employees who want to become Licensed Psychiatric Technicians (PTs), while continuing to work at State Operated Facilities. Each week, participants can do 20 hours of work with 20 hours of school, or 30 hours of work with 10 hours of school.
Participants:
- Do their work hours in a healthcare setting
- Attend a full-time, accredited Psychiatric Technician program
- Receive full-time pay and benefits while in the program
This sponsorship program allows employees to gain experience, complete their education, and keep their income and benefits. It also helps provide high-quality care for the people receiving services at PDC.
