Enhanced Behavioral Supports Homes (EBSH) and Community Crisis Homes (CCH) are group homes (serving youth and adolescents) or adult residential homes that can support up to four people.  These homes are certified by the Department of Developmental Services and licensed by the Department of Social Services.

EBSHs provide enhanced behavioral supports, staffing, and supervision to people with complex needs.  CCHs serve individuals experiencing urgent or emergent crisis and at risk of admission to a more restrictive setting.  CCHs’ goal is to stabilize individuals so they can transition to a long-term living arrangement as quickly and as safely as possible.  Most people stay for 12-18 months.

Who is eligible for EBSH and CCH?

Some examples of high-risk behavior that may qualify someone to reside in one of these homes include physical aggression, self-injury, and property destruction.

Regional center staff works with each person and their IPP team to decide if an EBSH or CCH can meet their needs.  If there is agreement, the regional center staff coordinates referrals to the potential EBSHs or CCHs.

What can you expect?

EBSHs and CCHs provide 24/7 person-centered, trauma informed supports and services. They use positive behavior supports and other evidence-based methods.

Some of the staff available to residents include Qualified Behavior Modification Professionals, nurses, direct support professionals, mental health clinicians, and dietitians.

Each person is encouraged and supported to make decisions about the services and supports they receive.  Residents stay active attending church, school, and celebrating holidays with family and staff.

How are family members involved?

Families visit their loved ones and join in outings and celebrations.  They are also involved in meetings and decision-making to help achieve long-term success.

What else should you know?
