In May 2026, new reporting requirements will take effect for Special Incident Reporting (SIR). Service providers have the responsibility to submit SIRs about events that impact the health or safety of a person receiving their services.

Two webinars were held in early January, for regional centers and service providers. Later this Spring, the Department will host a series of trainings for individuals and families, service providers, and regional center staff. These trainings will help with understanding the updates and the available tools and resources.
