Service providers and regional center staff, mark your calendars! Providers of personal care and home health care services subject to Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) are required to be transmitting specific services data to the state’s EVV system either via CalEVV, which is the free-to-use state-supplied EVV system, or using an alternate EVV system of the provider’s choosing which meets the EVV requirements. Compliance with EVV requirements also is an eligibility criterion for the Quality Incentive Program, discussed in a different article in this newsletter.
CalEVV is a system for direct support staff and caregivers to record when and what home-based services and supports take place. They can also enter who providers these supports.
It was created to follow a federal law called the 21st Century Cures Act. The law requires states to keep electronic records of specific personal care and home health care services in California.
The California Electronic Visit Verification (CalEVV) team is hosting in-person Training Roadshows to help you meet federal EVV requirements. These hands-on sessions will give you practical tools and clear guidance to use the CalEVV system.
Attendees can receive support with:
- Getting started with CalEVV self-registration
- Setting up and maintaining a CalEVV account
- Understanding EVV compliance requirements
- Submitting compliant EVV data and resolving common issues
