The training curriculum review protocol is provided to assist In-Home Respite Agencies in developing training to respite workers in the provision of incidental medical services – gastrostomy feeding, colostomy/ileostomy, and urinary catheter care. Incidental medical services were added to the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act (Welfare and Institutions Code Section 4686) by the 2009 Statutes, Assembly Bill 4th Extraordinary, Chapter 9. The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) developed the review protocol with input from regional center clinicians.
