Our Golden State continues to make progress in expanding affordable and accessible housing options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Multiple housing developments that will support people receiving regional center services have recently celebrated important milestones across California.

Now open:

Breaking ground:

  • Addison in San Diego – 20 units dedicated to individuals supported by San Diego Regional Center

Secured all funding and ready to begin construction:

  • Marigold Villas in Ukiah – 8 units dedicated to individuals supported by Redwood Coast Regional Center
  • Scotty Station in Sacramento – 17 units dedicated to individuals supported by Alta California Regional Center
  • Ladera in San Diego – 22 units dedicated to individuals supported by San Diego Regional Center

These projects are the result of partnerships between regional centers, housing developers, lenders, federal, state and local agencies, community organizations and the Department.

Through what we call ‘gap funding,’ we help cover part of the cost of developing safe, accessible and affordable housing.  Gap funding bridges the financial difference so projects can move forward.  In turn, developers dedicate specific units for people supported by regional centers.  Many of these multifamily developments also offer on-site support services for residents.

Stay tuned for more reasons to celebrate inclusive housing on the horizon.
