The Life Outcomes Improvement System (LOIS) team continues to work to update the project documents needed for state and federal approvals that will allow the project to proceed.
What is LOIS?
LOIS will replace the decades-old case management and financial systems used to manage and pay for regional center services. State approvals are moving to a new approach called the Project Delivery Lifecycle (PDL). This new method allows LOIS to:
- be built in smaller steps
- test and prove ideas early with technology vendors
- select a system more quickly, after acceptable prototypes have been developed.
What’s Next?
The next major step is to secure state approvals to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) for technology vendors that will be selected to demonstrate how their product could become LOIS. The technology vendors will have to show they can use the Department’s data warehouse and meet other project requirements with their developed products. Individuals, family members, service providers, and regional centers, and the Department will evaluate each of their example products for:
- ease of use
- accessibility
- meeting business functionality
- meeting performance expectations
The strongest options from this phase will be invited to move to the next round of decision-making, and a final vendor selection will be made.
Where Do You Come In?
Public input from across our community already has helped to shape what we want from LOIS. Next, individuals receiving services, their family members, service providers, regional centers, and the Department are running the development of LOIS together. This team will evaluate vendor proposals and potential products for LOIS and together make decisions on next steps.
