Across California, almost seven million family caregivers help their parents, spouses, and friends who need assistance with everyday tasks to live well in their homes and communities. To advance the goals of the Master Plan for Aging to support family caregivers, CalCARES sought to improve awareness, navigation, and educational opportunities for California’s family caregivers serving older adults and people with disabilities. Funded through the Administration for Community Living, and in alignment with the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, CalCARES partnered with other state agencies, Area Agencies on Aging, and community-based organizations to develop and test scalable models to support family caregivers.
