Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) partnered with On My Own ILS to host a dental clinic for the people they support. Their most recent clinic was held on February 12 and 13, 2025 at the On My Own ILS office in Citrus Heights. Portable dental hygienists (RDHAPs) in the local community provided fluoride treatments, X-rays, cleanings, and more to 12 patients.
According to ACRC Dental Coordinator Shannon McConnell, most of the patients who attended had not had their teeth checked in several years, with some not seeing a dentist for 5 to 10 years. The clinic helped several of the patients with resources for follow-up treatment with a dentist. They also provided personalized instructions on proper oral hygiene. “Clients were happy with the services and connected well with their hygienists,” said McConnell.
McConnell works with local dentists to support individuals and families to get the care they need. These dental clinics, in partnership with On My Own ILS, aim to provide preventive dental care in a more accessible environment than a traditional dentist’s office. ACRC’s next dental clinic with On My Own ILS will be on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9, 2025.
The May dental clinic is only for ACRC individuals and On My Own ILS clients. ACRC individuals interested in attending the May clinic can contact the center for more information.
