Sara Specks smiles at the camera while holding a sign that reads The Future of Developmental Services is supporting complete acceptance

Sara is a Master Plan Committee member, a Safeway employee, and serves on the North Bay Regional Center Board of Directors. She’s truly a force for good in our community!

The Master Plan will include recommendations for improving developmental services across California. On February 12th, the California Master Plan for Developmental Services (Master Plan) Committee met at the Ed Roberts Campus in Berkeley. Thank you to the many members of our community who joined in-person and online.

At this month’s event, the committee presented the next steps in the timeline to complete the Master Plan. The committee has five workgroups tackling: Person-centered Services; Service Systems; Workforce; Data and Outcomes; and Lifelong Services. Members of each workgroup shared some of their recommendations during the meeting and heard feedback from the public. The discussion also included equity recommendations gathered through previous conversations with the community.

The final Master Plan committee meeting will be on Wednesday, March 19, at the California State Lottery headquarters building in Sacramento. You can register to attend the upcoming meeting online or in-person. Workgroups will submit their recommendations for the Master Plan before the March 19 meeting. Our community’s ideas will help set goals and plans to improve connections and access to developmental services into the future.
