California continues its ongoing work to improve transparency and access to information about state services.
On October 1, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) launched a new online tool called the Behavioral Health Public County Profile. It shows how counties plan, pay for and provide mental health and substance use treatment services.
The tool is part of California’s Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA), a law that aims to improve these services and make information about them easier to find.
For the first time, people can find this county information in one place. The tool includes:
- How counties plan to provide behavioral health services over three years.
- How counties are doing in providing behavioral health care.
- How counties use money for behavioral health services.
- Other county information about the people receiving services, housing needs and services available.
You can use the tool to compare counties, see how money is spent and learn more about behavioral health services across California.
