If you’re interested in working with the Department of Developmental Services, catch us at the next job fair!  Our human resources team regularly attends job fairs to meet and network with candidates representing the diversity of California’s communities.  This month, they attended two job fairs in Northern California.

The first was the National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) Job and Resource Fair hosted by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).  The event highlighted the importance of inclusivity and diversity in the workforce.  It also showcased innovative supports for individuals with disabilities on the job.

The Department also attended the 2nd annual Pride Industries I AM ABLE Disability Job Fair.  This event was one of the largest hiring events focused on people with disabilities in Sacramento area.  It hosted over 1,000 attendees and 40 employers.  Our outreach staff listened as participants shared their personal journeys in navigating the career landscape with a disability.  Staff also provided guidance on state initiatives like the Limited Examination Appointment Program (LEAP) and the State Internship Program (SIP).  The I AM ABLE Job Fair created meaningful connections. It also reinforced California’s commitment to building workplaces that celebrate diversity and promote equity for all.

Thank you to Pride Industries and the California Highway Patrol for holding these two events!
