Matt Harmetz connects people to information, support, and each other.
Matt runs our Autism Helpline. He answers questions about services, the regional center intake process, and how to get evaluated for autism. Matt says that many people do not realize they may be eligible for services, including adults.
“A lot of times we get questions like ‘oh, that’s just for children, right?’ Well, not exactly,” said Matt adding that employment services are one such example.
As the Community Liaison of our Autism Branch, Matt also leads the Department’s Autism Focus Group. Through this group, members share feedback about services and their experiences. Matt values the insights shared by focus group members and how they shape the way he thinks about services and support.
“One thing I love about my job is just being able to be out in the community and interacting with different people from different backgrounds,” he says.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching basketball and anime, and playing Magic the Gathering.
