Who can I talk to if I need help understanding a service decision? Why was my service request delayed? Who can help me communicate my concerns? These are just a few questions that people have when navigating developmental services.  Ombudsperson Eden Rosales can guide you through these situations.

Eden works with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to better understand California’s developmental services system. She also can connect them with resources that may meet their needs.

“An ombudsman is a neutral problem solver,” said Eden. “We’re here to provide information to help you understand why decisions are made or what your next steps are.”

While the office does not provide legal advice or represent people in hearings, it serves as a resource for individuals and families seeking guidance.

For Eden, the work is personal.  “Developmental services are built on the idea that everybody deserves to live a full life at their own direction,” she said.  “I believe that individuals and their families deserve dignity and respect.”
