A new California law aims to improve how regional centers plan and fund services to meet the needs of people in their communities.
Assembly Bill (AB) 175 has combined two plans that regional centers use to develop services:
- Community Placement Plan (CPP)
- Community Resource Development Plan (CRDP)
What’s changing?
Under the new law:
- Regional centers will use the CRDP process to request funding for new services and providers
- The Department will hold a public meeting every year on the CRDP guidelines. Community feedback from this meeting also helps guide regional center requests for funding. Access the presentation slides from the October 15, 2026, meeting.
- The law also removes outdated terms from California’s developmental services system.
How will regional centers follow the new law?
A directive is coming soon to explain how regional centers will carry out these changes. It will guide them as they plan for services, identify community needs and request funding.
These changes focus on how regional centers plan and fund services. They do not change how you or your family currently receive services.
