Train-the-Trainer Orientation Materials

The Department of Developmental Services (the Department), in partnership with its self-determination advisory workgroup members, conducted a series of train-the-trainer sessions on the Self-Determination Program (SDP) Orientation materials at six locations throughout the state in February 2019 and March 2019. The train-the-trainer sessions provided a foundation to assist regional center staff and SDP local volunteer advisory committee members in conducting Orientations for participants entering the SDP. Regional centers should work with their local volunteer advisory committees to determine if modifications are needed to materials from the train-the-trainer sessions. Orientation materials presented locally may differ from the materials below. Below is the link to the materials used during these training sessions.

The Department of Developmental Services (the Department) conducted trainings on the Self-Determination Program (SDP) at five locations throughout the state in September 2017 and October 2017. The training was designed as a train-the-trainer meeting, and was specific to learning how to conduct a SDP Informational Meeting. Those in attendance were regional centers, local consumer or family-run organizations, and community-based organizations interested in voluntarily conducting SDP Informational Meetings in their region. Below is the link to the Power Point presentation used at these trainings. It contains the basic content for individuals to learn about the SDP before adding their name to the list from which the Department will select the first 2,500 participants.

For questions regarding how to attend an Informational Meeting in your community, please contact your local regional center.

The Department met with each regional center at five locations throughout the state in September 2017 and October 2017, to discuss detailed information on the SDP. Below are the Power Point modules reviewed at the five meetings.
